The power from the generator, as well as pumping water, provides light in the classrooms for the students' evening study time, keeps the refrigerators in the staff houses fairly cold (but not freezing), and provides power for the school's computers. These are a mixture of different donated machines running different operating systems, and are used chiefly by the staff for producing written work, tests, and so on. Students have very limited access. A major problem is that the power is off for much of the day, but there are plans to hook up a second, smaller generator just to provide power to these computers and the administration computers during the afternoon.

Power also allows students to watch Australia's "State of Origin" rugby league games. The entire day was re-arranged to allow students to be free in the evening, and the generator time was extended so that everyone could watch. These students are watching on a large outdoor screen using the school's prized video projector.
